_______________________________________________________________________ INTRODUCING 'RHYDWYN FACH' (LITTLE WHITEFORD) OUR NEW DEMONSTRATION LAYOUT This project is now complete, and the layout has had its first outing, being the main feature of our stand at the Porthmadog Show on May 5th & 6th. An insurance certificate has been obtained from the National Association, and Ian Blackburn and Mike Barton are currently the persons named on it. This will allow us to use live steam at many outside events where normally this would be impossible. With its integral folding supporting legs, the layout is very compact, measuring 10ft2in(W) x 10ft8in(D) when all eight baseboards are erected, but when dismantled it will fit into the back of a Toyota Yaris for transportation. The configuration is of one 32mm gauge circuit on the inside, and one 45mm gauge circuit on the outside - All radii have been set to 2ft6in, with each circuit having access to its own preparation and disposal bay via a traverser - NO POINTS ARE INVOLVED!
The Group's Co-ordinator and Mike Lilley during the testing of the layout at Mike's garage on Sunday 22nd March This was the first time that the layout had been assembled in its entirety
If you didn't believe that this layout would actually go in the back of a Toyota Yaris, here's the proof!

RAILWAY NOW OPEN! Saturday 12th May was a lucky day weatherwise, as it meant that the new 45mm gauge Rheilffyrdd Sir Fon was able to be opened on schedule - Mrs Wendy Jones of Rhydwyn performed the opening ceremony. Wendy, who suffers from Multiple Schlerosis, is confined to a wheelchair and needs twenty-four hour care in her home opposite the new railway - She was a regular visitor to the previous railway on this site, but unfortunately it was built slightly too high for her to watch the trains in comfort. So, with her in mind, the new railway's 'management' arranged for the new railway to be built at a lower height, and with sufficient room to enable her to access the rear garden, so that she can socialise with our members and their families during future events. Although train services have now commenced, things are still not perfect for ithe railway's passengers, as, although all of the new coaches have now arrived, there still are no platforms to board them from at the stations. A collection was made in aid of the M.S.Society, and a total of £65 was raised from those present - Many thanks to those people who contributed!

STILL IN 3RD PLACE BUT THE GAP'S CLOSING! The National Association has just advised your Group Co-ordinator that the North-West Wales Group is still in third place in the league of hits on hosted 16mm web-sites. Currently the Yorkshire Group is deservedly well in the lead with 12,378 hits to the end of April this year, and are followed equally deservedly by the East Midlands Group with 4,810 - However, at the time we were fast closing the gap, and were only 230 hits behind them at 4,580 - Many thanks to you all for your continued support!
